Matthew Gagnon is the Editor In Chief of Pine Tree Politics.
Matt grew up and went to college in Maine, where he studied Political Science, focusing on American Government and Comparative Politics. While at the University of Maine, he served Chairman of the University of Maine College Republicans, and as President of the General Student Senate. In his senior year, Matt made an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the Maine House of Representatives.
In 2006, Matt moved to Washington DC to pursue a career in national politics. After serving as an Intelligence Analyst for a private security firm in Annapolis, Maryland, he became involved in digital campaigns and strategy. His experiences lead to him joining the National Republican Senatorial Committee for the 2010 election cycle, serving as Deputy Director of Digital Strategy.
After the 2010 elections, Matt went to work on Capitol Hill for Senator Susan Collins, serving as her Director of New Media Communications.
He currently works for New Media Strategies, an Arlington, Virginia based firm specializing in digital PR, campaigns and strategy.
Ryan McCabe
Ryan McCabe is an editor and columnist for Pine Tree Politics.
Ryan is a graduate of the Navy Nuclear Power Program and spent nearly ten years on active duty. He served over three years onboard a fast attack submarine in Groton, CT, followed by nearly four years as an instructor at the Navy’s Nuclear Power prototype training facility in upstate New York.
Ryan currently works for Nextera Energy at the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant where he is a Nuclear Systems Operator. He makes his home in Berwick with his wife Jessica and their two sons. As managing editor for Pine Tree Politics he is responsible for contributing commentary on various political issues, managing the day-to-day operations, and for maintaining the technical aspects of the website. Most recently Ryan worked as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Scontras for Congress 2010 campaign and served as the Vice Chair of the York County Republican Committee during 2010.
Ryan is a fiscal conservative and does not hesitate to call out Republicans and Democrats for their failed fiscal policy that has led to the mounting debt both nationally and at the state level.
