Today, Chris Cilliza of the Washington Post published 2011’s list of the best state level blogs. The list was built from submissions from the reading public, with the results compiled and put into list form. Pine Tree Politics was this year’s sole representative from the state of Maine.
So, naturally, I’m taking that to proclaim this blog as Maine’s best. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
In 2009, the last time Washington Post put together a list like this, Turn Maine Blue (now known as Dirigo Blue) came out on top in Maine.
Phony triumphalism aside, I think it isn’t so much of a bad idea to give a plug for Maine’s blogosphere in general, since Cilliza’s readers didn’t nominate anyone other than me. That’s a shame, because there are plenty of good ones to pick from, and I am by no means the only game in town.
Here’s the best things to read for Maine politics, according to yours truly.
- Pine Tree Politics
- As Maine Goes (not really a blog in the traditional sense, more news aggregation and message board, but a must read anyway)
- Maine Freedom Forum
- Price on Politics
- Maine Politics
- The Tipping Point
- Dirigo Blue
- Collins Watch
- Colin Woodard
- As Maine Goes lolz
- Dill’s Conventional Wisdom
- Amy Fried’s Poll Ways
General Politics and Media
- Al Diamon
- Al Diamon’s Media Mutt
- Dennis Bailey’s Savvy Spin (Bailey is sometimes conservative, sometimes liberal, and usually provocative)
- George Smith (Ourdoorsman news and politics)
