You Didn't Actually Think The Casino Debate Was Dead, Did You?

It’s back.

Yes, the debate over gambling simply will not go away, and Maine legislators will be breathing life into this subject once again during this legislative session.  Two bills have been introduced, one by Democrat Thomas Watson, and one by Republican Sawin Millett.  Each has subtle differences, but both aim to bring casino gambling to Maine.

Millitt’s bill aggressively scrubbed some of the more objectionable parts of the bill which was voted on last fall – such as Olympia Gaming references and certain perks (credit lending, board membership for the President of the Casino, etc).  He hopes this will make it more palatable to the voters this time around.

Currently, both bills are in the infants stages of advancement.
